WHO WE ARE

Legato Publishers Group is a boutique distribution service designed to help publishers achieve their growth potential. 

Through our affiliate, Publishers Group West, we provide sales and distribution services to a select and small group of clients, allowing them to benefit from the economies of one of the industry’s largest and most innovative publishers as well as the expertise, superior systems, dynamic sales force and clout of the largest and most sophisticated full service distributor in the industry. 

Legato distinguishes itself by working with clients that have high potential for growth and a willingness to work closely with their distribution partner. We take time to not only understand and embrace our client’s titles and marketing efforts, but to understand a title’s primary customers and what attracts and motivates them to make a purchase. Legato helps publishers get the most out of their resources and is fully aware of their clients’ cash flow and tolerance for risk.

Due to the fact that we work with only a small number of clients, our growth is completely dependent on our client’s growth. This shared goal creates a relationship that is unique in the industry and one we feel gives us and our clients the best possible scenario for achieving mutually beneficial results.

Mark Hillesheim, National Account Manager

Mark is responsible for managing our clients sales at Barnes & Noble, BN.com, Barnes & Noble College, Books-a-Million, Overdrive, as well as the sales liaison for all business in Canada. Mark has 23 years of experience in the publishing industry at Simon & Schuster/Macmillan and various roles at HarperCollins including his most recent as Vice President of National Accounts, Backlist Sales and Operations. Mark has extensive sales experience and relationships with all channels of bookselling and a proven track record for sales. He also has years of experience in sales analytics, operations, inventory management and has created industry leading backlist sales practices.

Sarah Armstrong, Client Relations Coordinator

Sarah supports client sales and marketing efforts, liaising with the sales, catalog, metadata, and operations departments. Before joining Legato in 2014, Sarah managed the mail order sales channel at Skyhorse Publishing.
